How interchangeable are windshield wiper motors?

I drive a 96 Buick Park Ave, and my windshield wiper motor recently gave out. Living in Central New York, this is um .. rather unideal for me.

I took my car over to Midas, and they wanted to charge me 250 dollars to change out the motor. And I didn't pay it. I took my car, and squinted my way home through the rain.

I'll probably go to a pick and pull and try to change them myself. But do I have to find my exact same car, or a Buick to make this happen? Or are they just a generic car part? How interchangeable are windshield wiper motors?
They may be common to more than one GM model but you'd have to research the numbers to find out. If you've never changed a wiper motor, you'll wish you'd paid the $250, by the time you're through fighting with it.How interchangeable are windshield wiper motors?
Check with GM to see if the part numbers are the same. If you've never done one of these, I'd suggest paying the money. If you have, good luck. How interchangeable are windshield wiper motors?
Here ya go!

Used for less than $50 bucks and you can see they are rather easy to change out.

Typically three 12mm bolts and a simple electrical plug in for the controls.
